What Can I Do At The Farm?

Hiking

Whether it is a stroll in the woods or fields, a day hike, or the launch of a multi-day hike, we have trails for every skill level. You can access the public trails to Windmill Ridge and Putney Mountain from the farm – 16 miles of trails maintained by the Windmill Hill Association and Putney Mountain Association.

Cycling

Mountain bikes are welcomed on the trails, and if a scenic ride through the Vermont countryside is what you are looking for, Grassy Brook Road is a popular route for cycling enthusiasts.

Fishing

There are lots of local fishing spots, but for a truly memorable experience, engage our local “fish whisperer” for guided fishing in some of his favorite local fishing spots. You are (almost) guaranteed to catch the big one!

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

Our fields are perfect for these favorite winter outdoor activities, and if you forgot your equipment we have a limited supply at the farm for you to use.

Swimming

Many streams run through the farm, so take a dip in the Grassy Brook or enjoy a swim in the pool hidden behind the big barn to cool off on a warm day. The pool is heated so we manage to stretch swimming season from May through September!

Yoga

For our yoga enthusiasts we have several inspiring spots for your practice. If you would like we can arrange for a local yoga instructor to come to the farm.

Art & Nature

Bird Watching

The White Barn Farm is a year-round bird-lover's paradise, but we particularly enjoy the Spring season for the most spectacular variety of winged visitors!

Wildlife on the Farm

As we have developed the farm for our fellow humans to enjoy, we have paid special attention to enhancing (rather than destroying) the habitat for our local wildlife. Many species of birds, deer, turkeys, porcupine, lynx, fox, coyote, bobcat, raccoon, muskrat, beaver and groundhog have all been spotted in abundance at the farm. In addition, we have had occasional moose and bear sightings.

Painting & Drawing

The scenery is spectacular no matter the season, and the nature song is breathtaking. Let the surrounding beauty of the White Barn Farm be the inspiration for your next masterpiece.

Agricultural Activities

Depending on what is in season during your visit, there are always fun and educational activities related to the crops grown on the farm. During berry season you and your guests can make jam; during apple season you can make some delicious cider; during sugaring season you can participate in the process of making maple syrup; and so much more!

Or Just Relax!

Breathe.

Observe.

Take a walk.

Read a book.

Make a puzzle.

Sit by the fire.
